Volunteer Opportunities

You can count on a network of active committees to provide a dynamic setting for CPA volunteers in the San Antonio CPA Society. You are invited and encouraged to select the committees of your interest, volunteer and get involved.

Organization Council (Staff Coordinator: Jacqui Belcher )

Nominations & Awards – Edie Cogdell
Nominate officers, directors and TSCPA board members. Select recipients for the various honors and awards. Nominate candidates for TSCPA awards.

Strategic Planning – Tracy Johnson & Melanie Geist
Direct the long-range focus of the Chapter.

 

 

 

 

 

Membership Council (Staff Coordinator: Amanda Talaat)

Membership Recruitment & Retention – Chuck Clark & Martha Perez
Recruit and welcome new members to the Chapter and promote involvement. Recommend new services to address the changing needs of members. Attend regional CPA Swearing-In Ceremony. Greet members and their guests at Society meetings. Coordinate Student Auxiliary meetings.

Business & Industry Issues - Dennis Elam & Carmen Pagan

Explore issues and make recommendations regarding the specific needs of members in business, industry and government. Focus on members' ability to provide services to their employers and enhance their professional careers.

New CPA Involvement – Mike Fenton, Mark Goldman & Arturo Machado

Provide a forum for the involvement and development of leadership skills. Plan and coordinate a variety of activities at chapter and state level. Include all members and focus on involving members who are either under 40 years of age or have recently obtained their certification.

Golf Tournament Task Force - Jim Tsakopulos, Fred Timmons & Randy Vogel

Plan and administer the annual CPA Golf Tournament benefiting the Academic Matching Gifts Fund. Work concentrated between February and May.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

External Relations Council (Staff Coordinators: Jacqui Belcher )

CPA Volunteer Bank – Jacqui Belcher, coordinator
Provide speakers to local organizations on request. Place CPAs on the Boards of Directors of nonprofit agencies. Promote volunteerism in community functions.

Funlympics – Tracy Johnson & Joe Guerra
Organize and coordinate Funlympics, a half-day sporting event for at-risk children. Work is concentrated between May and July.
Education & Accounting Careers – Linda Vaello & Maria Martinez
upport the TSCPA Career Awareness initiatives designed to attract high quality students to the accounting profession. Administer the Accounting Excellence Award and Educational Foundation Matching Funds Programs. Administer the Accounting Scholarship Program. Plan& coordinate accounting career workshops.

Financial Literacy - Don Crane & Keni Rodgers

Promote activities that increase financial literacy for citizens in the community. Develop and present educational materials designed to increase practical knowledge of general financial issues.

Cooperate with Education & Accounting Careers Committee to promote financial literacy for high school and college students.

Jr. Duel in Ol' San Antonio - Keni Rodgers

Organize and coordinate Jr. Duel in Ol' San Antonio, a personal finance case high school competition.  Work is concentrated between September and February.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Continuing Education Council (Staff Coordinator: Sarah Bloxham)

CE Advisory – Janet Stigent-Burns & Doug Dunlap
erve as an advisory group for scheduling professional and volunteer seminars including annual updates, new issues and hot topics designed to meet the needs of CPAs practicing in a rapidly evolving profession. Plan and coordinate speakers and topics for large events, such as Free CE Day and Symposium. Promote these events to CPAs throughout South Texas.
